Although snubbed for an Academy Award for his portrayal of Victor Frankenstein in Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of the Gothic novel, Oscar Isaac was recognized by his peers in the Screen Actors Guild for his performance. Isaac was nominated alongside his Frankenstein cast mates, including Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth, for best film ensemble at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards, previously known as the SAG Awards. However, while he attended the Golden Globes in January, the Star Wars actor missed out on Sunday’s ceremony.
Currently one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood, Isaac has a huge slate of projects on his schedule at the moment, including another Del Toro-directed film called Fury, Flesh of the Gods co-starring Elizabeth Olsen and Kristen Stewart, as well as the film adaptation of the popular video game Metal Gear Solid.

Last year’s Netflix revival of Mary Shelly’s classic 1818 novel is up for three awards this evening, including a standalone nod for Elordi for his performance as the Creature and also best stunt ensemble. This is the Dune star’s second SAG nomination, following a 2022 nod for Best Actor in HBO’s limited series Scenes from a Marriage, co-starring Jessica Chastain.

“For me, as painful and as dark of a character and as rageful and defiant of a character as Victor is, he’s also probably the most pleasurable character I’ve ever played,” Isaac told GQ in November. “And again, character is kind of a conceptual thing. I bring an element, but then [costume designer] Kate Hawley shows up and expresses this person through these incredible costumes that suddenly I’m like: Oh, this. Oh, I see who Victor is. He is an artist. He would’ve maybe been a musician and he would’ve been on the forefront. He’s a punk. And so all that comes together to create this person.”
