The Boys season 5 is continuing down the path of shocking deaths.
Episode 5 of the hit Prime Video series, which came to the streamer on April 29, ended with lead supervillain Homelander (Antony Starr) killing one of his most loyal followers, Misty Tucker Gray, a.k.a. Firecracker (Valorie Curry).
Firecracker joined "The Seven" corrupt superheros (a.k.a. "supes") in season 4 after having a complicated history with her childhood nemesis, Starlight (Erin Moriarty). She became a crucial member of The Seven because of her powers, her loyalty to Homelander and her ability to manipulate the public through her media presence.
However, Firecracker's background ultimately caught up to her in the fifth episode when she faced a dilemma between her former beloved church and her current supe life. After someone from her past life reminded her of her former values and beliefs, she started to doubt Homelander.
Homelander then confronts Firecracker — after Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), whom Firecracker was sleeping with, told him about her doubts. Even though she pleads for her life by telling Homelander that she's the only person who truly loves him, he shows no mercy and brutally kills her.
Here's everything to know about that death in The Boys season 5, episode 5.

Firecracker died in the final moments of The Boys season 5, episode 5. The supe became a member of The Seven, led by Homelander, in season 4 after she was recruited by Sister Sage (Susan Heyward).
In addition to her powers of super-strength, firing off sparks and durability, she was also an integral member of the team because of her personal history with superhero Starlight. Over the last season, Firecracker made it her mission to destroy Starlight's reputation after she believed she ruined hers when they were teenagers.
Firecracker became extremely loyal to Homelander and regurgitated his radical conservative views to the public. During her time with The Seven, she frequently spread messages of hate and violence in the media.
However, in the beginning of the fifth season, Firecracker started to show some cracks in her dedication to Homelander when she was reminded of her former beliefs in God and Christianity.

Homelander killed Firecracker in a fit of rage after confronting her about her doubts in him.
Earlier on in the episode, Firecracker got a call from her former reverend and close friend, Greg Dupree (W. Earl Brown), from her hometown in Florida. Dupree confided in Firecracker about how his church was destroyed by one of Homelander's obeying supes and asked for her help in rebuilding.
However, Firecracker was too invested in her beliefs in Homelander and told the reverend to accept him as God. Dupree appeared disappointed and reminded her, by calling her Misty, that she could still return to her Christian beliefs.
Later on, Firecracker was tasked with addressing her church's destruction on television and smeared their reputation, betraying her former life and beliefs. Although she obeyed Homelander's wishes, Firecracker also seemed to have some regret, shedding a tear during the broadcast.
The situation appeared to take a major toll on Firecracker, and later on that night, she found herself confiding in supe and fellow The Seven member Soldier Boy. She admitted that she was struggling to fully change her mind and follow Homelander as her God.
Unfortunately for her, Soldier Boy remained loyal to his leader — and his biological son — Homelander, telling him Firecracker's doubts.
