Rapper Rick Ross was reportedly arrested in Miami, Florida, on Thursday, October 1. He was charged with battery and battery by strangulation for alleged domestic violence in August this year.

According to NBC6 South Florida, Rick Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, turned himself in to the Miami Beach Police. He was then arrested and booked into Miami-Dade's Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. However, he was later released after he paid a $5000 bond.

The rapper is accused of domestic violence against a woman in August at his home on Star Island. According to the arrest documents and jail records, the incident took place on August 28. Ross alleged that the victim was in a relationship with a man, with whom she claimed she was only friends.

The rapper, whose net worth is $180 million (via Celebrity Net Worth), allegedly got angry after seeing the victim being tagged in an Instagram post. He repeatedly questioned her about it and allegedly slapped her multiple times. He also allegedly choked her by twisting the hoodie she was wearing.

He then allegedly slammed her face against the wall and struck her face, "causing a busted lip." He allegedly tried to spray her in the shower, but the victim managed to escape. She later returned when Rick Ross was not at home to take her belongings.

This comes just days after Jazzma Kendrick had accused Ross of domestic violence via Instagram stories on September 26 (via PEOPLE). She shared images of her busted lip and alleged that the rapper used her as a "punching bag".

Following his arrest on Thursday, Rick Ross was released after he posted his $5000 bond. He gave a statement to the journalists outside the jail, denying all the allegations laid against him. He also laid out his vacation plans and said:

"I am totally innocent of these fabricated allegations made against me. It's totally fabricated. What my weekend looks like, I'll be in Dubai tomorrow, Paris Saturday, and I plan on having a bowl of rigatoni with heavy marinara Sunday."

Ross' attorney, Bradley Horenstein, also asserted his client's not-guilty stance and told the reporters:

"All I can say is that the allegations are false, he's innocent. Everything is going to come out. We just ask that you allow the process to play out before rushing a judgment because the truth will come out."

During a bond court hearing, Horenstein had also urged Judge Mindy Glazer to expedite the process, saying Rick Ross "is a celebrity". Glazer responded:

"Hi Mr. Roberts, I have no idea who you are except as somebody here in the court who's going to be treated fairly just like everybody else here."

Meanwhile, after Ross' release, Miami Beach Police spokesman Christopher Bess said that they suspect a "very violent attack." He said authorities also retrieved photos and videos related to the incident. They also have images of injuries from the victim and possible surveillance footage from the rapper's home.
