Donald Trump on Saturday announced that the parameters of a deal had been reached with Iran, calling off an expected attack "subject to being able to rapidly make a deal."
"The U.S.A. is locked and loaded and ready to go against the Islamic Republic of Iran, at levels of Military Terror, Strength, and Power not seen since World War II," the president wrote on Truth Social. "Despite this, we have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any attack in that the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to."
A potential deal, he wrote, would include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and "an end to Iran's nuclear threat."

"Based on this request, I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL," the president continued. "The Country of Israel joins me in this commitment. Get to work, everybody, and get it DONE."
Coordinated strikes from the U.S. and Israel against Iranian energy infrastructure were reportedly being weighed for this weekend, according to multiple sources who spoke with CBS News.
The military strike plan reportedly came up during Trump's cabinet meeting at Camp David on Friday. Some White House aides were strongly opposed, one of the sources told the outlet.

Later, Trump told reporters that "We'll be hitting them very hard. At some point, they're going to say, 'We just can't take it anymore.'"
When contacted by CBS, an Israeli spokesperson denied knowledge of a coordinated attack with the U.S.
"Israel is unaware of a decision to restart full military operations, nor has Israel been requested to join any military actions against Iran," the spokesperson said.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said only that "As President Trump said at his cabinet meeting today, the United States will win, and Iran will not have a nuclear weapon under his watch."
According to the sources, the attacks would have likely included power plants and refineries. There were reportedly also high-level discussions by the U.S. on Friday about cutting electricity across Tehran.
Meanwhile, several U.S. embassies, including in Jordan, Jerusalem and Baghdad issued security alerts on Saturday due to "heightened tensions" and warned "Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise caution and heightened vigilance and should be prepared for flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures, and potential travel disruptions."
