Elsbeth is just a week away from Season 4's release, and now might be a good time for viewers to jump back into the Season 3 recap and see where the series left off. In Season 3, viewers saw Elsbeth Tascioni getting a surprisingly happy ending after she solved another murder of Duke Sebastian Mason and even got to spend some time with Kaya.

In the Elsbeth Season 3 finale, viewers get to see a Ruby Lane performance at the very beginning. However, she soon gets into an argument with Duke Sebastian Mason over money, after which she hits him with an object, and he dies. Tascioni reaches the crime scene and meets Captain Wagner and investigates the room.
Tascioni even checks the pyjamas hanging while others are folded and checks the shower bar that had come out of the wall. She meets Deandra Jordon, aka Kaya, through whom she meets Ruby Lane, according to The TV Cave. Later, she meets Ruby Lane once again and starts chatting with her about the reason for the murder investigation and then learns about Father Crime. On the other hand, Lane pretends not to know Sebastian at all.
Along with Tascioni, Kaya also works on the case and finds the financial problems at the hotel. They start investigating Lane and go with Wagner to talk to her about the money problems. When asked about her whereabouts on the night of the murder, Lane says that she came into her room to watch herself on Father Crime. While going through the notes, Tascioni asks who Vernon is, and Lane takes out the note, saying he is a grandnephew.

She later meets Roy, who delivers the same news to her and talks about marriage and says that he's there to ask for her permission. While talking to him, Tascioni learns that there's a chance both of them might move to the suburbs, which comes as a little shock to her.
Wagner later talks to Teddy and reveals his own proposal story to Claudia. And thanks to that, Teddy finally proposes to Roy.
Elsbeth Season 3 recap: The killer is finally caught
As the case comes to an end, Tascioni, Wagner, and Kaya put all the evidence together and learn that the murderer is none other than Ruby Lane. Elsbeth also watches the episode of Father Crime and notices something odd. Ruby says she sang a song for the orphans, but the song never appears in the episode.
Ruby also claims she watched the episode herself, which makes Tascioni even more suspicious. She later learns about Vernon Duke and understands that Vernon's note was for Duke Sebastian. Thanks to all the clues and evidence, Lane is finally caught in the end. Season 3 ends with Tascioni talking to a woman about a Broadway musical while being all happy.
Speaking about the finale, showrunner Jonathan Tolins told TVLine that they already knew the show would return, but they still wanted to end the season with another musical episode. He also said he was happy with Tascioni's final line, as he feels the character shows that people can still enjoy the things they love without becoming cynical.
Though the question around Tascioni's love life remains, showrunner Jonathan Tolins told TVLine that:
"I think the romance is over. It wouldn't really be true to Elsbeth for her to open that door again. But everybody loved Ivan, and [Alec] is now the mayor. We think we're going to have ways to use that character and bring him back. It certainly will be awkward for Elsbeth, given their history, and there'll be fun stuff to explore there."
Elsbeth Season 4 is scheduled to premiere on October 8.
