After Rob Lowe's niece tragically passed away, her cause of death has now revealed that she passed away from an apparent suicide.
Fiona, the 13-year-old daughter of Rob's brother Chad Lowe and his wife Kim Painter, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, leaving the family utterly devastated. In a statement to TMZ, the Lowe family said, "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona."
Her parents, Chad and Kim, remembered her as an intelligent, loving, and creative soul with a deep passion for dance. Cherished by her sisters and parents alike, the family described Fiona as "the light of our lives" to the news outlet, adding that her passing has left their entire family shattered. They asked for prayers and privacy during this painful time of mourning.

According to a statement shared with PEOPLE by the medical examiner, the teenager was pronounced dead at 1:14 AM on Tuesday, September 29, after tragically taking her own life.

Chad, the youngest brother of 62-year-old actor Rob, welcomed Fiona, his second child with Kim, on November 16, 2012. The couple, who didn't marry until 2019, had previously welcomed their first daughter, Mabel, in 2009, and later their third child, Nixie, in 2016.

Chad regularly celebrated his wife and children on social media, including a heartfelt birthday tribute to Fiona just last year. "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today! !" Chad wrote in the caption of the November 2025 post featuring Fiona. "Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much! !"
In February 2025, Chad also shared a photograph of his three daughters embracing one another as they surveyed the devastation of their Los Angeles property after it was destroyed in the Palisades Fire in January of that year.

Following Fiona's death, countless individuals have flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express condolences over the Lowes' tragic loss, with one writing, "Omg, how devastating."
A second added, "@RobLowe praying for your family. May that sweet baby be at peace," and a third commented, "This is heartbreaking. way too young to lose someone like that."
Another noted, "Very sad news. Chad Lowe and his wife Kim have announced the passing of their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona," while someone else expressed, "This is horrific. First losing their home to the Palisades fire, now this."
