Jamie Oldham has been in the form of his life at Glasgow 2026
Jersey sprinter Jamie Oldham broke the island record for the 200m at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Oldham - who also set a new Jersey 100m record on Tuesday - was the fastest of the island's trio of runners in Glasgow.
His time of 21.02 seconds lowered his island record of 21.21 he set earlier this year and was 0.19 seconds off a place in the semi-finals.
Oldham finished fourth in his heat, less than half a second off Botswana's heat winner Justice Oratile as he finished 26th-fastest.
"I had an outside lane, I wasn't too happy about that coming in as I wanted someone quick on my outside to chase," Oldham told BBC Radio Jersey.
"But my coach just said 'run your race' and that's what I did.
"I got out hard, maybe a bit too hard as I felt myself dying towards the line, but I'm happy with the time.
"This is the pinnacle for my sport and for my life.
"It's been a dream of mine and my dad's since I could walk really, so to be here and to PB twice at the Games, I can't really put it into words, it's a dream come true."
Elsewhere Zachary Saunders finished 29th-fastest after he was fourth behind Jamaica's Rashawn Clarke in his heat in a time of 21.29 seconds.
Steve MacKay was 0.10 seconds off his personal best as he finished fifth in his heat in 21.70 seconds and 35th-fastest.

Another personal best for heptathlete Woodward
Lucy Woodward has had personal best performances in four of her five events so far
Meanwhile Lucy Woodward got a personal best for the fourth time in six events as she registered 5.82m in the heptathlon long jump.
Woodward had already beaten her best marks in the 200m, shot put and 100m hurdles on Tuesday.
The jump earned her 795 points, moving her on to 4030 and up to 12th place.
She went on to throw a season's best of 34.62m in the javelin, getting her 564 points and consolidating her 12th position.
More defeats for Jersey bowlers
Ross Davis and partner Malcolm de Sousa have yet to win a game
Jersey's bowlers, meanwhile, have yet to win a match in their men's pairs and women's singles campaigns.
Ross Davis and Malcolm de Sousa came closest to breaking their duck as they lost a tie-breaker to Malaysia's Amirul Danial Abdul Rahim and Mohammad Soufi Rusli.
The islanders had an excellent first set, winning it 8-0, but lost the second 6-4, having gone 6-0 down.
They then went on to lose a tie-breaker 1-0 to leave them joint-bottom of their group with two losses from two matches.
Abbey Andrieux suffered a heavy defeat by Canada's Kelly McKerihen in her second game of Glasgow 2026.
She lost 13-2 in the first set having been 11-0 down after three ends.
Andrieux did go into a two-shot lead in the second set but McKerihen rallied to win it 10-4 to leave the Jersey bowler bottom of her group.
