Nick Kroll revealed how Harry Styles helped plan his proposal to wife Lily Kwong
The actor and comedian, who popped the question to Kwong in 2020, shared the story on the latest episode of the SmartLess podcast
Kroll said Styles was also the very first person to learn of the couple's engagement
When Nick Kroll proposed to his wife, Lily Kwong, he had a little help from a famous friend — Harry Styles.
During an appearance on the April 27 episode of the SmartLess podcast, the actor and comedian, 47, revealed how the "American Girls" singer, 32, helped him plan his proposal to Kwong. Kroll explained that, at the time, he and Styles were working on their movie Don't Worry Darling amid "the height of COVID" in early 2020.
He said he and some of the cast — who included Florence Pugh and Olivia Wilde — were hanging out together after a table read when he brought up his intention to pop the question to Kwong, a landscape artist. Kroll and Styles were bouncing around ideas.
"I was sort of figuring it out," Kroll recalled of his proposal plan.

As Kroll and Kwong had just moved into a new house at the time, Kroll ultimately decided to hide the engagement ring and a bouquet of flowers in a box to surprise his future wife. But things didn't go quite as he imagined when Kwong got annoyed by his ruse before understanding what was actually happening.
"I was like, 'Can you just move this last box?' " Kroll recalled asking Kwong. "And she was like, 'Give me a f---ing break. You make me move the f---ing box?' "

"So she opened the box, and then he [Styles] checked in with me to be like, 'How did it go?' " Kroll continued. "So I told him before we spoke to our families to let them know because he had been checking in."

Kroll previously opened up about his proposal during an appearance on The Tonight Show in November 2020, just weeks after he and Kwong tied the knot.
Recalling how Styles was first to learn of his engagement, he told host Jimmy Fallon, "We were getting ready to call our parents and take a picture and all that stuff, and Harry Styles texted me to be like, 'Have you done it yet? What's going on?' And I was like, 'Yes, she said yes!' So Harry Styles was the first person to know that we were getting married, before my parents, before Lily's parents, before anybody. "
He added: "Harry was the first person to know, and he gave us his blessing, and it meant the world."
Kroll also revealed on the late-night show that he and Kwong exchanged vows on a cliff in Big Sur, Calif. "It was just us," he said of the intimate ceremony," and it was really, really beautiful, pretty magical."
The Roommates star said Styles surprised the newlyweds by sending them a "huge" bouquet of flowers after their wedding. "Just so lovely and kind," he said of the Grammy winner's gesture, before joking, "He doesn't know this yet, but he is now going to be the guardian of all our children."
Kroll and Kwong welcomed their first child, son Leo, in January 2021, followed by daughter Gaia in 2023.
