Meghan Markle recently appeared on “MasterChef Australia,” but things didn’t go as planned. Instead of being liked or praised for her guest appearance, the Duchess of Sussex is being criticised and being dubbed “more diva than a diva” after she allegedly reacted angrily to being described as “royalty” during her television appearance.

Meghan Markle recently made a guest appearance on “MasterChef Australia” in Melbourne during her recent tour to Down Under. She was featured in a promotional clip alongside judges Jean-Christophe Novelli, Poh Ling Yeow, and Sofia Levin. In the teaser, one of the judges, Yeow, announced the arrival of the Markle by saying, “We’ve had MasterChef royalty in the kitchen before, but no one like this.”
The introduction allegedly did not sit well with the Duchess of Sussex, as it was already made “very clear and deliberate guidance issued ahead of filming that any references tying Meghan explicitly to royal status were to be avoided in promotional material.” So, when Yeow introduced the former actress with “that line,” it took her team by “surprise.” It instantly triggered “concern about how it might be interpreted once it reached a wider audience.”

A source further told RadarOnline that for Markle, “the issue wasn’t simply the wording itself, but what it represents in a much bigger picture.” There has been a constant “effort to shape a distinct identity for their ‘brand’ that isn’t defined by royal associations” but with “moments like this risk reinforcing a narrative Meghan has been trying to recalibrate for some time.”
However, Sydney-based reports have suggested that Markle was unaware of the comment, as she was not present on set when the line was recorded. “But her demands over what puns and language to use when introducing her on a light-entertainment TV show make her behavior become interpreted as even more diva than a diva,” noted the insider.
