SOUTH CAROLINA (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A massive pileup involving about 50 vehicles shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 95 over Lake Marion in South Carolina on Thursday.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation said dense fog caused very low visibility when the crash happened. The wreck involved about 15 tractor-trailers, along with passenger vehicles.
Emergency personnel reported four people were trapped in vehicles, but all were safely removed. One person was airlifted to a hospital, while about 11 others suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital. No deaths have been reported.

South Carolina Highway Patrol said crews were working with tow operators and using local and state resources to clear the bridge. Just after 5 p.m., troopers said they expect I-95 southbound to be closed "for an extended period of time."
"We are working hard to clear vehicles as fast and efficiently as we can. Please continue to avoid the area if possible," they said.
