David Muir was absent again this week, leaving his fill-in Whit Johnson to cover for him on Tuesday, July 28, night's episode of ABC's World News Tonight.

Whit, 44, kicked off the nightly news show with "breaking news" as he explained the "life-threatening" severe weather changes around America. The news anchor shared, "We begin with breaking news . A tornado watch and life-threatening flash flooding in the north east at this hour. Heavy rain and damaging winds in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York."

He continued, "Up to three inches of rain per hour in some hours. Possible flash flooding in several counties in New Jersey. At least five reported tornadoes in Illinois and Wisconsin over the last 24 hours...hundreds of flights delayed or canceled." It comes after Muir was brutally attacked by Donald Trump in a savage rant.

Whit also filled-in for David, 52, on Monday, July 27, and during that episode, he shared a special message with the Guthrie family amid the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, who went missing earlier this year.

"Next tonight nearly six months after the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, her daughter Savannah Guthrie making a new emotional plea to the potential kidnappers to do the right thing, and quote 'tell us where to look for her,'" he first began.

Following his intro of the segment, he introduced ABC correspondent Aaron Katersky to give more context. After Aaron wrapped his report Whit said, "We are thinking about the Guthrie family tonight."

On Monday, July 27, Savannah, 54, released another video pleading for the safe return of Nancy.

"I am coming on today with a very specific message," she shared in the clip. "It has been months since our mom was taken from us. Our family is in agony. We are in a nightmare that will not end. Nothing about or situation has changed. We have done our part. We will never stop looking for her."

She continued, "We will always ache for her and feel that hole in our hearts. The world can be a cruel and unforgiving place. And I know you have tried to do things the right way," Guthrie told followers, seemingly complimenting Nancy's abductor."

Savannah further shared, "So I'm asking you, begging you, to do the right thing now. Make the right choice. Help us find her. Tell us where to look for her. I truly believe it is never too late to do the right thing. Help us bring this situation to an end.

"For all of us, no matter where we've been and what we have done, I believe there is always a way home. Please make the right choice," she added.

It comes after Muir fans said Trump 'can't get over it' as his replacement dropped a major update.
