We're one episode away from an exciting season finale of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. This week's penultimate episode sets up the season finale by presenting Caleb (Sandro Rosta) with a major dilemma—should he stay or should he go? We can't go into any more detail without spoiling the episode, but we can tell you filming has wrapped on Season 2 of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy so we can look forward to new adventures as our cadets enter their sophomore year.

What is Star Trek: Starfleet Academy about?
This new Paramount+ series follows a group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they will discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers. But as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries and first loves, the cadets must also face a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.

What happened in last week's episode of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy?

In "The Life of the Stars," last week's all-new episode of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, Tilly (Mary Wiseman) arrived at the Academy with an unorthodox method for healing. Using a theater class and the play "Our Town," she helped the cadets process their trauma from the Miyazaki—especially Tarima (Zoe Steiner)—who had been isolating herself since the events at the ship graveyard.
New revelations were discovered in Episode 8, when The Doctor escorts SAM to Kasq.
At the same time, SAM (Kerrice Brooks) faced a cascade effect from her injuries on the Miyazaki. With The Doctor (Robert Picardo) and Chancellor Ake (Holly Hunter) escorting SAM to Kasq—the homeworld that created her—to see if they had a solution, it was determined she could not be fixed and she was shut down.
It's revealed that The Doctor initially kept his distance because SAM reminded him too much of his own daughter. However, he comes to the heartbreaking realization that since SAM was created without a real childhood, she never learned how to process her experiences. Taking advantage of the way time passes on Kasq, The Doctor stays behind to raise her. In only a few weeks of our time, they live out nearly two decades together before she returns to the Academy.

Meanwhile, Nahla breaks protocol in one final gambit to keep a promise to Caleb.
