Bobby Flay is weighing in on one kind of culinary challenge that makes him feel like a “fish out of water.”
The celebrity chef, who frequently answers fans’ questions about his Food Network series, made the revelation while responding to queries about Beat Bobby Flay via Instagram Stories on Thursday, Feb. 26.
“When baking do you welcome it or go oh no … not again?” one viewer wanted to know.
“Not my fave,” Flay admitted. “I’m a fish out of water, but I enjoy the challenge.”
When another fan asked Flay to share his dream guest for his podcast, Bobby on the Beat, he named fellow chef and restaurateur Wolfgang Puck.

Flay recently revealed the process behind his popular Instagram Q&As while chatting with PEOPLE during the 2026 South Beach Wine & Food Festival (SOBEWFF).
“I literally answer those questions, I swear to you, in less than four minutes,” he said. “My team gives me the questions, they write through all the questions, they give them to me. I answer them right away. And I want them to be very spontaneous.”

“I think probably the most popular ones are when people ask me about Brooke and cooking and stuff like that, because for some reason, people are interested in my love life,” he said. “I'm not really sure why, but they are. So have at it.”
Flay also opened up about launching the podcast, which he said has been “really fun.”
“It's informal and easy, and also I get to tell stories and get stories told by people in the industry in a way that they haven't probably talked about their lives before,” he said. “And Bobby on the Beat, it's all positive. We're not looking for any gotcha moments or anything like that. It's basically just to raise up everybody who participates in the industry.”
The biggest challenge is “getting people to tune in,” he said.
He added, “I think you have to be patient and put out good quality content that people want to listen to and just basically continue to do it in a way that is beautiful.”
