Benson Boone recalled an awkward encounter with a fan during an appearance on the Life Uncut Podcast on Thursday, Oct. 1
The singer mistakenly believed a restroom was private before a concert early in his touring career
Boone said the fan was understanding after recognizing him during the embarrassing moment
Benson Boone may be a huge star, but he has embarrassing moments just like the rest of us.
During the Thursday, Oct. 1 episode of the Life Uncut Podcast, the “Beautiful Things” singer, 24, was asked about his most cringe “accidentally unfiltered” story. Boone then shared a story involving an awkward fan interaction that happened about two and a half years ago, long before he was touring arenas.
“It was a really big deal to me,” he said of his performance at an amphitheater, which kicked off his tour at the time.

“Backstage I didn’t have a bathroom for some reason,” he said, explaining that he wasn’t aware that he would have to share a bathroom with the audience.
But Boone soon found out.
When Boone and his friends were kids, they would take their pants off completely while using urinals in bathrooms, the singer explained on Life Uncut Podcast.
While the ritual was “unnecessary,” it was also “funny ‘cause like you have to take your pants all the way off and then get them all the way back up before someone outside comes in because if someone comes in and catches you doing that, you know, it’s really awkward and funny looking,” Boone said.
Boone and two of his friends thought it would be funny to do that again at the venue where he was opening his tour. They were convinced the bathroom was private, Boone explained.

“I walk in there, drop the drawers. They are fully at my ankles. And I have started taking the piss. So once you start, you can’t stop, or it hurts,” he said as the podcast co-hosts began to laugh.
Boone heard someone come into the bathroom, but he didn’t bother to look because he thought it was one of his friends, he said.

“It wasn’t,” he recalled. Instead, it was a fan who stopped in their tracks and audibly gasped.
After the fan recognized Boone, they had an embarrassing conversation as the singer continued using the restroom. He then asked the fan if he was going to the show.
“And he goes, ‘Yeah.’ And I was like, ‘What are you doing back here?’ And he’s like, ‘Uh, this is the bathroom. What are you doing back here?’ ” the singer continued. “It was so awkward. I was horrified. Luckily, great guy. He was super cool.”
Boone said the awkward encounter ended with him shaking the fan’s hand before he washed his.
Boone is in the midst of his Walking Man Tour, which resumes on Oct. 26 in Seoul, South Korea.
