After eight years of not releasing any new music, Bosse-de-Nage is back.
On Monday, the metal band's independent record label, The Flenser, announced that Bosse-de-Nage's sixth studio record, titled Hidden Fires Burn Hottest, will be released on March 6. This is the group's first release since their 2018 album Further Still.
In addition, the lead single, "No Such Place," was also released on Monday and is available on all streaming platforms.
According to Metal Injection, Bosse-de-Nage have been working with The Flenser for more than fifteen years, and were among the first artists the dark music label ever partnered with.
"Hidden Fires Burn Hottest doesn’t explain itself," the record label wrote at the end of their Instagram caption. "It insists that what you feel is as real as what you can see."

Formed in 2006 in San Francisco, Bosse-de-Nage consists of Harry Cantwell, Bryan Manning and two other anonymous members who go by the names D. and M. Considered a part of the blackgaze scene in the Bay Area, their unique and experimental style draws from inspirations from various subgenres such as post-rock, shoegaze, post-hardcore, screamo and indie rock.
After signing with The Fader, the band released their self-titled debut record in 2010, following it up with their second and third albums, II and III, in 2011 and 2012, respectively. Their fourth studio album, All Fours, was released in 2015, and their most recent was put out in 2018.
In 2012, Bosse-de-Nage also released a collaborative EP with another San Francisco-based black metal band, Deafheaven, titled Deafheaven / Bosse-de-Nage, contributing the track, "A Mimesis of Purpose."
About the leading single, Manning revealed that "No Such Place" is "one of the oldest tracks" from the album.
"It is perhaps the closest realization of the original vision we had for this album," Manning said in a statement. "All of the restrictions we placed on ourselves for Further Still have been shed like old skin and a new form has emerged."
